Cleaning your Roof with a Pressure Washer

December 16th, 2009

The year is almost over and we need to begin to think about what we are going to improve in our lives. Many say New Year’s resolutions are overrated. But, the way I see it,  is if we don’t set our mind to do something at this point, then when will we do it? After all, we need to generate cash for the next holiday season- and everything in between now and then.

Once you get something done during the first season, you become motivated throughout the whole year.

so, I was also thinking: why not let that be a project that you enjoy, that you feel proud about? Something that takes energy and requires interaction.

Wouldn’t that be nice?

How about a trip to our store with your teenage son -or even daughter- and you and I talk about pressure washers and which one is best for your roof.

Here is an article that a good friend sent me. I hope it’s useful to you.

We put the best tools at your service.

Washing Your Roof With A Pressure Washer

by Scott Rodgers

A disorderly state of your roof not only hampers the normal
functioning of roofing setup but also hurts the serenity of
the entire home. When it is about beautifying your home, the
roofs deserve a quintessential attention.

When it comes to ensuring a serene look to your home, the
roofs often are neglected. Considering the fact that roofs
are exposed to dust, air and water on a constant basis,
their sanitation is not prioritized by the homeowners.
However, it is quite accepted that roofs are an integral
part of your home architecture.

front-21You can take one of the two ways to wash your roof entirely.
Either you can clean off the roof surface with a broom and a
bucket of water or you can pressure wash the roof. Pressure
washing the roof saves you a lot of time whereas the manual
wash does the job with no financial involvement. A washer
apparatus has to be bought from a hardware store to pressure
wash the roof. If you’re constrained by money then you can
rent the concerned equipment. Derive any possible
recommendation from the salesperson regarding the pressure
of the machine. Generally, a pressure of about 1500-2000
pounds per square is required for the operation.

Take a regular-sized hose pipe and connect its tail to a
source of water supply. Screw the other end to the pressure
washer you just brought in. Render normal supply to the
apparatus by turning on the water control valve of the
concerned source.

Insert the plug of the equipment into the associated socket
and trigger the operation of the apparatus. Switch on the
washer and wait for the water to gush out of the mouth of
the pipe.

Pull the trigger of the washer and direct the flow of water
to the roof. Remember that water gushes out of the washer
mouth with great pressure and hence, handle the mouth
strongly beforehand.

stage-washMake sure that the location on which you are standing on the
roof is not too steep or saturated. If the roof appears a
bit too steep then carry out the operation from the ladder.
Make sure that the ladder is grounded firmly and doesn’t
shake or wobble. Another person could be called in to assist
you with the assignment. Cover all the areas of the roof and
render a clean look to your roof.

Ultimately, a cleaner roof of the home adds to the
beautification of the entire home.
